The United Way Board of Directors recognizes GE Aviation as a Top 10 Company Supporter. GE Aviation employees and the corporation contributed over $17,800 to United Way of South Texas during the 2021 Campaign.
Dr. D’uAndre Drain, Javier Vazquez and other GE team members coordinated the campaign and were instrumental in educating employees about United Way funded programs. GE Aviation not only contributes financially to United Way of South Texas, it also commits to community service throughout the year. GE employees participate in United Way’s Day of Caring and Back to School “In Style” Shopping Spree events every year. They also participate in the annual Fund Distribution process, which ensures program and financial accountability for United Way funded agencies. These two programs collectively impact 3,450 local Middle School and High School students annually.
“In many ways the world is forever changed due to Covid. The willingness of the GE McAllen team to give from their hearts and continue to support the local community through the United Way,” Len Davis said. “We are honored to be recognized as a United Way Top 10 Company and look forward to the continued partnership to support those in need.”
The generous donations from GE Aviation employees has helped over 178,500 residents in Hidalgo & Starr Counties. United Way funds programs that include emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and for the homeless; after school, youth leadership and homework assistance programs for children; end-of-life care services; advocates for children in foster care; free income tax preparation services for families who earn $60,000 a year or less; assistance for families affected by natural disasters and single home fires, and much more.
