United Way of South Texas Board Members proudly recognize Target Stores as a Top 10 Company Supporter. The HR Management Team, with the support of Store Leaders, coordinate the annual United Way Campaign at each location. They include: Anita De Hoyos, Yvette Alvarado, Jessica Garcia, Nancy Barrera and Angie Alonzo. Their outstanding leadership drives volunteer engagement and campaign participation. Century Club Awards were presented to stores with a per capita giving of $100 or more and include: the Target District Office, Target-Las Tiendas, Target-Mission and Target-Nolana.
Target employees not only contribute financially to United Way of South Texas, but they also volunteer throughout the year. They are instrumental in United Way’s Back to School “In Style” Shopping Spree and Day of Caring events. These two programs collectively impact 3,450 local Middle School and High School students annually. Counselors select eligible students to participate in the Shopping Spree, who receive school attire, personal hygiene items and school supplies; United Way’s Day of Caring project also provides school supplies to eligible Freshmen at select districts.
The generous donations from Target employees help over 178,500 residents in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. Their support will fund programs including emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and the homeless; after school, youth leadership and homework assistance programs for children; end-of-life care services; advocates for children in foster care; free income tax preparation services for families who earn $60,000 a year or less and much more.
The United Way Board of Directors extends their deepest appreciation to all Target employees and to everyone who invests in United Way of South Texas, to ensure that critical services are available to families in our community.
