United Way of South Texas Recognizes United Parcel Service as Top 10 Company

June 29, 2021

MCALLEN, TEXAS –  The United Way Board of Directors thank United Parcel Service (UPS) and their employees for their contributions to the United Way of South Texas. UPS is an excellent community partner! They are involved in many volunteer efforts that affect hundreds of thousands of local families.

During the 2020 United Way Campaign, UPS local employees and the corporation contributed over $53,000 to United Way of South Texas for programs that focus on Health, Education, Financial Stability and Family Safety Net challenges.

This year, UPS ranked 3rd amongst the “Top 10” Company Campaigns in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. The pandemic created challenges at every workplace, but with the support of Business Manager, Mr. Joe Garza, Mr. David Cuellar and Mireya Gonzalez, UPS employees continued to invest in our community.

The generous donations from UPS help over 178,500 residents in Hidalgo & Starr Counties. Their support will fund programs including emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and for the homeless; after school, youth leadership and homework assistance programs for children; end-of-life care services; advocates for children in foster care; free income tax preparation services for families who earn $60,000 a year or less; assistance for families affected by natural disasters and single home fires, and much more.

The United Way Board of Directors extends their deepest appreciation to all UPS employees and everyone who invests in United Way of South Texas.
