MCALLEN, TEXAS – The United Way Board of Directors recognizes GE Aviation as a Top 10 Company Supporter of United Way of South Texas. GE Aviation employees and corporation contributed over $39,000 to United Way of South Texas during the 2020 Campaign. GE Aviation matched 50 percent of its employees’ contributions.
Len Davis and Dr. D’uAndre Drain of GE Aviation were instrumental in educating GE Employees about United Way funded programs throughout the campaign. GE Aviation not only contributes financially to United Way of South Texas, it also commits to community service throughout the year. GE employees participate in United Way’s Day of Caring and Back to School “In Style” Shopping Spree every year. These two programs collectively impact 3,450 local Middle School and High School students annually.
“In many ways the world is forever changed due to Covid. The willingness of the GE McAllen team to give from their hearts and continue to support the local community through the United Way,” Len Davis said. “We are honored to be recognized as a United Way Top 10 Company and look forward to the continued partnership to support those in need.”
The United Way Board of Directors thanks GE Aviation and everyone who invests in United Way of South Texas. United Way of South Texas funds in programs that address critical services in the areas of Health, Education, Financial Stability, and Safety Net. The organization supports over 21 non-profit agencies in Hidalgo and Starr Counties that serve a minimum of 178,500 local residents annually. Services provided by United Way of South Texas through Partner Agencies include emergency shelter, family violence counseling, character building programs, child victim advocacy, and infant stimulation classes.
