UTRGV Recognized for Highest Contributions in the 2021 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC)

State of Texas employees volunteer to serve on the SECC Local Employee Committee (LEC). The 2021 LEC members were: Hope Noble, TDCJ Retiree; Carmen Amaya, Department of Protective Services; Carla Lopez, UTRGV; Cassandra Leal, UTRGV; Mary Ann Powers, Department of Protective Services; Gustavo Salinas, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services; Aurora Morales, Texas Department of Transportation; Georgina Marr, STC; Mary Ann Garcia, STC; Gisenia Abad, Texas Office of the Attorney General; Marina Reyna, Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The SECC LEC annually recognizes outstanding coordinators, volunteers and supporters. The University of Texas–Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was acknowledged as the State Agency, or Higher Education Institution, with the Highest Contributions in 2021. UTRGV employees pledged $34,518 towards local, statewide, and national charities through the SECC. UTRGV employees have supported the SECC for over twenty-eight years, and have donated over $939,000.

Employees from all state agencies contributed $117,051 in 2021. They agencies include: Attorney General, Comptroller of Public Accounts, Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Veterans Commission, Department of Public Safety, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Health and Human Services Commission, Department of Family and Protective Services, Department of State Health Services, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Department of Transportation, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and South Texas College.
