The United Way Board of Directors recognized H-E-B as the Top #1 Company. H-E-B is one of United Way’s most passionate partners, with an extremely dedicated team of individuals who go above and beyond to “do more” in the community.

The company has consistently earned the #1 Employee Campaign Award for the largest contributions in Hidalgo and Starr Counties. H-E-B’s Campaign was led by Fatima Saldaña and the Administrative Assistants at the stores and the H-E-B RSC (Transportation and Warehouse) site. With the support of their store leadership, the Administrative Assistants at each H-E-B encouraged over 3,045 employees to participate, and 206 partners were Pillar Club Members. Employees pledged $400,100 in Hidalgo and Starr Counties.

The United Way Board thanks H-E-B for its outstanding commitment to the community and for their time and resources during the pandemic. United Way also receives volunteer and financial support from H-E-B for Day of Caring Project FreshStart, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, Back to School “In Style” Shopping Spree, and much more. The company has continuously demonstrated leadership in the community through extraordinary engagement in year-round service projects.

“We are honored and humbled to accept this United Way award,” Linda Tovar, Senior Manager of Public Affairs said. “Throughout the entire region, we come together and give back to this wonderful non-profit organization, United Way. We are longstanding partners, we’re committed and we are honored!”
