United Way to Recognize Top Supporters & Volunteers for 2020 Campaign Achievements

On Thursday, February 25, United Way Board Members presented H-E-B with the South Texas Hero Award and #1 Top Company Trophy for their outstanding contributions and community impact.

MCALLEN, TEXAS  – United Way of South Texas volunteers and supporters will be recognized virtually on March 11 for 2020 United Way outstanding accomplishments.

United Way Board Members and Campaign Co-Chairs Dr. D’uAndre Drain, GE Aviation, and Gerardo Paz, South Texas FCU, presented 2020 Campaign Awards on Thursday, February 25 during an Award Pick-Up Event. Virtual recognition of the South Texas Hero, Top 10 Companies, Top Supporting School Districts, ISD Coordinator of the Year, Loaned Executive of the Year and other Outstanding Volunteers will be on Thursday, March 11 on United Way’s Facebook LIVE page: https://www.facebook.com/unitedwayofsouthtexas.

The Top 10 Contributing Companies are amongst the most committed to community involvement—giving of both time and resources. The following Top 10 Companies and their Company Campaign Coordinators will be recognized: 1) H-E-B Stores and RSC, 2) Walmart & Sam’s Stores, 3) Hidalgo County, 4) United Parcel Service (UPS), 5) City of McAllen, 6) Target Stores, 7) Vantage Bank Texas, 8) GE Aviation, 9) South Texas Health System, and 10) Superior Health Plan. Contributions from these companies represented 46% of the 2020 Campaign. Additionally, United Way will recognize the following Top 5 Supporting School Districts and their Coordinators: 1) McAllen ISD, 2) Edinburg CISD, 3) Mission CISD, 4) Weslaco ISD, and 5) PSJA ISD. Their contributions represented 10% of the 2020 Campaign.

The United Way Board of Directors congratulates these outstanding Companies, School Districts and Volunteers for their community involvement and investments, especially during a challenging year. Their support helped United Way exceed its $1.8M goal. Funds benefit over 21 non-profit Partner Agencies that provide services in the areas of Health, Education, Financial Stability and Safety Net. The organization supports over 21 non-profit agencies in Hidalgo and Starr Counties that serve a minimum of 225,500 local residents annually.
