October 16, 2026

The United Way Board of Directors proudly recognized H-E-B as the Top #1 Company Supporter at the Annual Awards Ceremony and H-E-B Campaign Coordinator Training.   H-E-B is an outstanding community partner, with a generous team that shares their time, talents, and financial support to ensure the availability of critical health and human services, positively impacting every community that they serve.

“United Way of South Texas is a staple in our community that continues to provide vital aid and services that support our families most in need. We are a proud, long-standing partner and honored to share our resilient Spirit of Giving with our communities throughout the Rio Grande Valley,” said Linda Tovar, H-E-B Director of Public Affairs. “This deep commitment demonstrates that our Partners truly have a heart for people and understand that we are in this together.”

With the support of their Store Directors, Leadership and the Administrative Assistants at each H-E-B location, two thousand nine hundred seventy-six employees pledged to support the community.  In addition, two hundred fifteen Partners joined United Way’s Pillar Club, by becoming leadership donors, with annual contributions of at least $500. Total pledges by employees in Hidalgo and Starr Counties reached $375,000. The H-E-B campaign was spearheaded by Center Store Leader Reyna Camacho and the Administrative Assistants at the stores and the H-E-B RSC (Transportation and Warehouse) centers.

“I am incredibly grateful for the extraordinary generosity demonstrated by our Top 10 contributing companies and their employees during the campaign.  Seeing so many organizations and thousands of employees unite behind a common purpose has been both inspiring and humbling.  Their unwavering commitment to support their neighbors and community will create a meaningful impact for families across South Texas”, added J.J. Serrano, HEB Weslaco RSC, Warehouse Facility Leader II.

United Way benefits greatly from the volunteer and financial support provided by H-E-B, for initiatives such as the Day of Caring Project FreshStart, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, the Youth Leadership Mentorship Program, the agency Fund Distribution and Accountability process and various other meaningful projects. The company has consistently shown leadership in the community by actively participating in year-round service projects with United Way and many other important causes.
