United Way of South Texas Announces the Top 10 Supporting Companies

United Way of South Texas Announces its Top 10 Supporting Companies
United Way of South Texas volunteers and supporters celebrated community service and Campaign accomplishments at the annual Awards Ceremony held on March 12th at the McAllen Country Club. Awards were presented to Key Volunteers, Top Supporting School Districts, Federal and State Agencies and Top Companies. Over 170 volunteers attended the event and helped to congratulate representatives from the Top 10 Contributing Companies. These Companies’ community involvement is outstanding, as their employees donate thousands of hours to support important local causes. The following Top 10 Companies and their Company Campaign Coordinators were announced: 1) HEB Stores (Richard Escalera) & HEB Transportation/Distribution Facilities (Gracie Pena/Albert Moreno), 2) Walmart & Sam’s Stores (Martha Sepulveda/Irma Ocana/Deena Garza), 3) Sunoco Stripes (Sharon Yon), 4) GE Aviation (Robert Linder), Target Stores (Alice De La Garza, Michael Rodriguez, Tanya Wychopen, Edna Hinojosa), 5) Inter National Bank (Osly Licea), 6) UPS (David Cuellar), South TX Health System (McAllen Medical Center, Edinburg Regional Medical Center, McAllen Heart Hospital, South TX Behavioral Health System – Joel Pena), IBC (Karen Pittman) and AEP Texas (Lee Jones). The United Way Board of Directors congratulates their outstanding community involvement. The Top 10 Supporting Companies contributed $1,062,000, representing 41% of the 2014 Campaign.

United Way of South Texas provides vital funding to over 23 non-profit agencies in Hidalgo & Starr Counties. Services provided to the community include shelter for victims of domestic violence and the homeless, work adjustment training, rent/mortgage assistance, free income tax preparation services to eligible families, elderly assistance and served meals.
